Congratulations Helen
September 21, 2007 at 10:28 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentOn Sunday i attended Simply Scrapbooking’s All day Crop to demonstrate the techniques ive discovered work well on the ceramic pieces.(you can see these for yourself by clicking TECHNIQUES AND TIPS on the sidebar)
I met a great bunch of lovely girls, and saw some familiar faces, and have to say thanks to all for letting me take you away from your scrapping for 10 minutes.
Everyone had the chance to try out the techniques on 2 sample pieces, and they were then invited to enter a challenge to use one of the pieces on a layout, for a chance to win a prize.
We had great entries, and without further ado, I would like to show you the winning layout by Helen.
Helen used a bisqued large square, that she then painted with acrylic paint, stamped, added some glitter paint, and then used the tile as a journal spot- I loved the idea to write journaling on the tile- something ive never done before, so i will have to scraplift that one!
thanks Helen for being part of the challenge, and well done!
Here is the layout
and here is a closeup of the tile
Simply Scrapbooking have also added Beep Beep cars in red, blue, lime and yellow, as well as assorted flowers, stars, hearts and words from crafty Matters, so if youre in the area, make sure you pop in to pick up a few
cheers
Jane
September Show and Tell
September 6, 2007 at 9:24 pm | In layouts, new products, showcase | 3 CommentsIts only a small one this month- a couple of new products and a few from the ’stash’
First off though, I have to say CONGRATULATIONS VITA!!
vita is currently one of the new DT members for For Keeps- she has had to keep that one under wraps for awhile, but now she is allowed to go ‘public’ as her layouts are appearing in the magazine.
(and huge congrats to Kelly Ingram of Kiti Q and Kim Ogden from Scraptacular who join Vita as ‘newies’ on the team )
here is one of her layouts
She has used some elements from the Beep Beep kit, and a ceramic circle that has had a rubon applied
And while we have a train theme happening- here is another layout Vita has created this month
using a bisque oval that she has stamped with an image and then covered with dimensional glaze

Mardi also went through her stash and pulled out a bird to use on this layout
love it- youve got to read the journaling its hilarious!
And now for something new
this month i am adding bisque numbers to the product range.
they are approx. 4cm high and $2 each
Here are some examples

On this layout, I have used a ‘5′ that has been painted with one coat of acrylic paint, and the edges have been sanded when the paint tried- a very simple, quick technique

This next one is a canvas clock.
The numbers here have been painted with crackle glaze- this involves base caoting with acrylic paint , then applying a crackle medium, and then applying a top coat of paint in a different colour. When this top coat touches the crackle medium, a reaction occurs, causing the paint to separate and reveal the base coat- it takes a little longer to do, however its very effective.
The other bisque product Im introducing are some ‘flat dolls’
there is a boy and a girl in two sizes
small- approx. 5cm $2 each
large- approx. 7cm $4 each
I gave Lou a large pair of the dolls, and I love what she came up with…….

in fact i wish i had thought of this, and im definately going to scrap lift it (if thats okay Lou
)
Its very right ‘on trend’ with all the symbol goodies that are available at the moment.
I have used the dolls in a COMPLETELY different way, and had a bit of OTP fun (please forgive the bad photo- i literally finished this tonight, just before i started this post!)
Ive painted the legs and arms of the dolls with acrylic paint, and then cut out little clothes for the dolls- and poppet heads of the family- the kids helped me glue their heads on to the dolls this afternoon- they thought they were so funny-
Ive also added a plain house to the bottom and written the word ‘love’ with a permanent pen
so thats it for September- stay tuned for october for all the Christmas goodies that will be available
cheers
