August Show and Tell
August 5, 2007 at 2:28 pm | In CMC, new products, showcase | 2 CommentsGetting back on track for the 5th of the month- here is the August Show and Tell. Thanks to the girls for getting there projects done with not alot of lead time- and grrrrrrr Australia Post for losing Katie’s parcel!
This month I also have 2 guest CMC designers
Fleur Broughton from Stampin Up! has done some gorgeous cards, and Clair Bremner has created 2 great layouts.
So, I have lots of new products to unveil
First up- Squiggle cards $3 each
We have been squirreling away at these for a couple of months now, to get them just right before their release. These cards contain a Journaling block and other elements adding some fun to your layouts and cards. They are printed on white or manilla 6″ x 6″ cardstock (as well as the baby girl bear on pink, and the baby boy bear on blue) .
The designs are line drawings of my Ceramic plate designs of years gone by, it was good to pull them out, and find a new purpose for them
The cards are also printed on a Laser printer- which means you can print apply acrylic paints, watercolour pencils or crayons to the cards, without the lines smudging!
Have a look at what the girls created with their Squiggle cards-
Mardi has used the Garden Girl journal block – rounded the edges and coloured in the pic with watercolour pencils, so the block ties in with the patterned papers she has used. Note the small ‘Field Flower’ she has used on ribbon stems- theyre new too, more on those later in the post.
EDIT just adding another fabulous layout from Mardi using some more elements from the ‘Garden girl’ Squiggle Cards
Vita has used the Fairy journal block, and also a matching tag to include a quote on her layout.

And Lou has cut out the fairy image, coloured it, and placed it on top of the journal block, she has also used a flower and heart bisque shape, which is also new(again more about those later in the post)
Fleur has created this great card using the babybear boy journal block

and a wedding card

I had to get in on the action too, this card uses the baby bear-girl in pink as a card-i have used a white signo pen to colour the flowers- torn the journal block in half and inked the edges
and this layout using the babybear blue card- i have used just about the whole Squiggle card on this one. The sail boat is another piece of ceramic bisque.
and this one uses ‘Blast off boy’

No.2 new product - Bisque
Bisque Ceramic is a ceramic piece that has been fired once, and is unglazed- it is usually called the ‘first firing’ as this is the process that turns unfired clay into a hard piece of ceramic. At this stage it is very pourous, and it is a great base for using acrylic paints, watercolour pencils, crayons stamping etc.
Here are some examples
Clair has used a bisque square, and base coated it with acrylic paint- when it dried, she stamped over the top with red stazon and an acrylic stamp (carefully placing the bird in position)
Charmane rather likes using the bisque, and has created quite a few layouts since she first saw them at the Scraptacular demo. The first one is a circle piece that she has base coated with paint, applyied a rubon, and then coated the piece with dimensional glaze so it looks like a glazed piece of ceramic

heres a closeup

on this layout, Charmane has painted the circles, applied rubons, and then stippled white paint over the top to creat a soft, matte finish

and this one has again been painted, stamped and glazed with a dimensional gloss

Fleur has also enjoyed working with the bisque shapes- the ovals on the next 3 projects, and a square on the wedding card, shown earlier in the post.
here is what she did- I stamped an image from the Scribble This set, using stazon…I then coloured in using the SU! Watercolour wonder Crayons…they worked really well…I then added Crystal Effects (SU’s version of Dimensional Magic)
the Watercolour Wonder Crayons are fantastic, I had the opportunity to play with them at a recent workshop Fleur held- if you would like more info you can email Fleur at
